The Problem

Aioi Nissay Dowa Europe (AND-E), the MS&AD Insurance Group subsidiary operating alongside Toyota Financial Services, was running a demanding product delivery programme across consumer mobile platforms, telematics systems, enterprise data governance, and internal tooling - all simultaneously, all within a heavily regulated environment.

The challenge wasn't a single project. It was sustained delivery capacity across disciplines that are difficult to hire for permanently: specialist telematics engineering, mobile development, backend and API work, enterprise data governance, and the business analysis and project coordination needed to keep everything aligned with Toyota Group standards. Building a permanent team of that breadth and depth would have been slow, expensive, and difficult to scale down once the programmes stabilised.

AND-E needed a trusted partner that could embed directly into its delivery environment, operate to enterprise standards from day one, and maintain quality across multiple concurrent workstreams over the long term.

The Approach

Over a five-year engagement, In Check Software placed between ten and twenty specialist contractors directly into AND-E's teams, covering the full range of disciplines the programmes required. Each resource operated within AND-E's internal frameworks and governance standards - indistinguishable in practice from permanent staff, but without the overhead.

The most technically specialist contribution was to Motix Drive, AND-E's telematics-powered insurance application. In Check Software's engineers were responsible for the bulk of the development work on the driving score engine and data capture layer - the core logic that processes raw telematics data into the behavioural scoring that underpins insurance decisions for drivers. AND-E retained the principal architect, with In Check Software's team executing the majority of the build under that technical direction.

In Check Software also provided engineering resource for telematics and scoring components within OneToyota, the group-wide mobile platform deployed across European markets and now with over 50,000 downloads on Android alone. AND-E's telematics capability was specialist and these components were required for the scoring and telematics-related features to function within the app - work that required genuine domain knowledge rather than generalist mobile development.

Beyond the two consumer-facing mobile products, the engagement covered backend and API development, internal customer portal work, Informatica implementation for enterprise data governance, business analysis across multiple programmes, and project management support to keep delivery aligned with Toyota Group requirements.

Over five years, In Check Software provided the delivery depth that allowed AND-E's product programmes to ship on time and to the standard a regulated, group-level environment demands.
